Due to a busy order book and a very successful 2017 CoorsTek in Crewe are expanding and have a vacancy for a CNC grinder in our ceramic machining process. If you’ve had experience of precision grinding in a quality focussed and flexible environment and enjoy a challenge, then we’d like to hear from you.

People rarely have experience with Ceramics - so CoorsTek Advanced Materials in Crewe are currently recruiting for a CNC Setter / Operator (Fanuc) with experience of milling and/or turning components in various materials that has a flexible and inquisitive approach. Training on machining high-spec and very hard-wearing technical ceramics will be provided and salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. The basic working week is 37.75 hours Mon - Fri day shift, with possible overtime after training.

The Role:
Responsible for loading, creating or making minor adjustments to preset CNC programmes; operates manufacturing machinery to produce high quality product to meet customer specifications. Works within a team environment to meet departmental goals. Maintains work area cleanliness.

The successful CNC Setter / Operator day to day duties will include:

- Perform multi-axis CNC machinery set-up function by downloading preset programmes, making adjustments to or creating programmes when needed to direct the sequence of machine operation
- Operate CNC and manual manufacturing equipment to produce acceptable product per work instructions
- Read and interpret technical drawings to determine machine set-up and production methods
- Inspect parts for defects as part of in-process inspection; record results, adjust program or notify appropriate person of deviation when needed
- Perform machine adjustments such as off-sets or setting tapers and basic preventative maintenance such as changing coolants, filters, etc.
- Follow work instructions to ensure quality standards are met
- Clean work area, machines, tools and equipment
- Train incoming CNC Set-up personnel on processes and procedures

To be suitable for this CNC Setter / Operator role you must have the following experience / characteristics:

- Must have previous experience of setting / operating Fanuc controlled CNC milling machines/lathes
- Ability to write, edit and modify advanced CNC programmes
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM programs and G & M codes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Must exhibit attention to detail as well as excellent listening skills
- Experience of working in a busy manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of punctuality and reliability

To be more suitable for this CNC Setter / Operator role it would be more advantageous if you have the following skills / experience:
- Have attained a recognised apprenticeship in CNC/Manual Machining
- Have previous experience of using manual milling machine/lathe.
- Ideally would have attended programming courses run by machine manufacturers.
Programming experience – particularly with Edgecam software.
- Previous experience of using CAD or equivalent.
- Previous experience of manufacturing a wide variety of materials
