Excellent opportunity to join this multinational, multi-site specialist manufacturer of protective coatings and to become the person responsible for developing and maintaining a division-wide, ISO/EHS compliant program, to assure that all products manufactured meet customer and company specifications while ensuring complimentary EHS performance

ROLE

  • Processes must comply with all regulatory requirements and this position is charged with ensuring all the Quality Assurance Systems and EHS programs are fully implemented and monitored
  • Responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of the ISO9001 & EHS programs
  • Quality/EHS expert for the location, hence, mentoring of staff and training of personnel and performing various EHS assessments in these areas is required
  • Leads the Divisions' Environmental Health and Safety program, establishing and instilling effective business metrics to guide the program
  • Identifies and reports EHS problems or trends based on accident and near miss reporting, proactive safety monitoring, etc
  • Ensures effective incident investigation, recommends or implements the appropriate corrective action to EHS problems, with the aid of manufacturing, engineering, product development, purchasing, etc
  • Ensures that EHS/ISO procedures are kept current by regular review of legislative changes
  • In conjunction with Operations Management, co-ordinates and conducts EHS awareness campaigns targeted at promoting risk awareness and best EHS behavioural practices
  • Writes necessary quality plans, procedures, work instructions and related quality system documentation
  • Recommends and implements the appropriate corrective action to quality and EHS related problems, with the aid of Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Development, Purchasing, etc
  • Apply problem solving techniques (8D, 5-Why, FMEA, etc.) and advanced statistical methods when appropriate

REQUIRED

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years’ experience supporting the quality, environmental health and safety functions in a manufacturing environment is desired
  • Recognised EHS qualification (eg NEBOSH certificate)
  • Domain knowledge in COSSH Assessments, Risk Analysis, Safe Systems of Work, DSEAR and Puwer
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with industry regulators and internal stakeholders and solve problems
