Our Client located in the Oxford City Centre is currently seeking an experienced Lawyer on an interim basis, ideally to start immediately until the end of May 2017. The successful candidate will have a strong all-round knowledge of planning law and be in a position to give advice at Planning Committee meetings held in the evening.

The main purpose of this role will be to undertake legal work for the Company at a level appropriate to the grade of the post and as specified in the attached career graded structure and competency framework. Standard DBS Certificate will be required from all applicants.

Full Time (37 hours) Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm

Key duties include:

  • To Perform in an effective, timely, courteous, professional and flexible manner the duties of a qualified lawyer
  • To provide efficient, effective and pragmatic legal advice and assistance to the Business and other clients
  • To personally represent the Business and other clients before the courts, tribunals and public inquiries as required
  • To work effectively with officers and members of the Business and with other clients

Additional skills required:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives
  • Demonstrates a good track record of successfully delivering a range of civil litigation case work without supervision
  • Demonstrates experience of personally and competently conducting civil advocacy in courts/tribunals
  • Competently negotiates and drafts relevant legal documents without supervision
  • Successful track record of gaining and holding the confidence of clients and developing and maintaining excellent working relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Demonstrates a collegiate approach to the delivery of legal services
