A high achieving good school is looking for a teacher of English who is able to enthuse, progress and engage students to achieve. Located in Hackney this school has an outstanding reputation in the local area and is oversubscribed. The school would like to appoint an NQT for this position and has in place an excellent induction programme that has seen newly qualified teachers excel in recent years and progress to positions of responsibility at department and whole school level.

The role is to teach a mix of key stage 3, 4 and 5. You will be teaching students of all abilities in both mixed and streamed classes. This role holds a high profile in the school, the recently opened 6th form saw English uptake amongst the highest in year 12 and is now a popular and thriving option at KS5. This is an excellent role for an enthusiastic and hard working NQT to start their career in an exciting school. The role will provide you with a great base to build upon and a platform to progress from in English teaching.

English as a core subject has an outstanding status at the school with the KS5 course in both Language and Literature being oversubscribed each year in the newly created 6th form. The department work collaboratively and staff share best practice and in recent years this has delivered the departments highest results. Students and teachers work in a calm and engaging environment. The modern classrooms are furnished to a high standard with the latest equipment and resources available in every lesson. Schemes of work have been adapted and the current department have done extensive planning to ensure all lessons are differentiated and pupils of all abilities progress in lessons.

Students at the school are now achieving more high level grades than ever, in every subject at GCSE results have increased in recent years. Students studying at A Level are progressing well and this year should see some excellent results as predicted. The English department have seen their grades increase over recent years and now have ensured the headline figures at the school are among the best in the borough. The department is seeking a dynamic teacher who will be able to continue the improvements and progress students further.

Staff at the school are well supported, an extensive and well-structured CPD program is in place throughout the year.
