Mechanical Engineer with a Masters degree or higher and a minimum 10yrs commercial experience for leading and award winning Engineering firm in Sussex.

The company are now ramping up demand for top quality Mechanical Engineers. You’ll be part of an exciting network of Engineers working as the leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.

With good hands-on Mechanical Engineering and Product Design experience you will be required to work on projects supporting the rapid growth of new products. Working on large mechanical diesel vehicles you will be a competent and experienced Mechanical Engineer. Involved in full life-cycle of product design, build, test and despatch you will be responsible for engineering and improving core industrial equipment for clients around the world. You role will be specifically covering:

* Structural engineering of large fabricated components
* Design of core mechanical products
* Experience in designing engine packages including free-standing and containerised systems
* Mechanical Engineering of packages including establishing customer specifications, package layout, defining mechanical (pneumatic, hydraulic, motors, bearings etc.) requirements, defining test programmes
* Test of equipment and vehicles / products
* Technical mechanical assessment
* Problem solving and identifying improvements
* Fault finding and analysis
* Implementing new product/component improvements
* Documentation & report writing
* Work closely with shop floor, sales, new product development and senior management
* Electrical / electro-mechanical systems
* Overall technical project management of package execution including feedback to customers on progress
* Experience of CAD – AutoCAD 2D / 3D required for layout designs
* GD&T
* FMEA analysis tools.

With a broad mechanical and product design knowledge you will be expected to be hands-on and demonstrate basic principles of engineering. Any mechanical knowledge (hydraulics, motor drive systems, braking systems, power electronics) would be useful. Good maths and physics preferred.
