Management Accountant


The Management Accountant will leadsa small team responsible for the provision of financial management information. This includes management accounts, budget setting and budgetary control, key performance indicators, benchmarking and value for money, asset performance, the Group Membership Agreement, defensive action plan, and corporation tax.

Benchmarking and key performance indicators, including managing the annual HouseMark benchmarking process, provision of monthly figures for Rooftop’s internal balanced scorecard, and reporting on value for money achieved.

Management of budget setting process, ensuring budgets are set in line with agreed timescales and within agreed budget parameters, including reviews with budget holders and directors, and securing Board approval.

Ensuring that effective budgetary control is maintained throughout including ensuring that meetings with budget holders take place on a regular basis to evaluate financial performance of their area of responsibility and providing any training necessary to support them.

Ensuring the timely preparation of management accounts and commentary 

The Vision Q&A and Vision Budget Management systems, ensuring statements for budget holders from Vision are available and effective for budgetary control purposes. Periodically reviewing the effectiveness of the software.

Calculating intercompany charges under the Group Membership Agreement, including monitoring and reporting on changes in costs apportioned to each subsidiary.

Preparing the analysis of the income and expenditure account 

• Professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)
• Significant experience of working in a similar role

• Experience of improving a budget setting process

• Experience of using the role to improve an organisation’s financial performance and value for money

• Experience of successfully line managing a small team to achieve agreed targets, objectives and outcomes

• An understanding of the Homes & Communities Agency Value for Money Standard
