Rotherwood Recruitment are working in partnership with a reputable and prestigious client in the local area. Due to expansion they are now looking to recruit a tool maker to join the manufacturing team, responsible for the modification and repair of existing and new tools.

You must have experience as a tool maker/ tool room fitter within a manufacturing/engineering environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude and the desire to lean and develop their skills as this position can offer growth, stability and security.

You must be an experienced tool maker/ tooling professional having worked within the injection moulding manufacturing environment.

You must have experience in the repair modification and maintenance of existing mould tooling with strong bench tool skills including lathing, surface grinding, turning etc.

Your responsibilities will include:
Maintain preventative maintenance program for all tooling
Required to strip down and rebuild injection moulding tools for maintenance and repair
Responsible for swiftly diagnosing tool failures and component quality issues
Responsible for assessment of tooling following unplanned downtime
Work with maintenance, manufacturing and production to ensure customer service is maintained to the highest level
Maintain health and safety standards and environmental requirements
Be able to assist in the appraise and ordering of spare parts for mould tools.
The team is built up of X2 TPM, as part of the daily role little supervision of the two will be required of the two existing members.
Offsite meetings to our toolmakers will required your attendance
Must be able to work with Solid Cam and Solid Works.

Experience and Qualifications:
Considerable previous tool making experience
Understanding of engineering drawings
Understanding of manufacturing processes
Planning and priorotising activities
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to present data effectively
Understanding of health and safety practices
Analytical skills set
Understand lean manufacturing
Understanding of cost and financial impacts
Ability to work to own initiative
Able to work as part of a team
Ability to learn quickly and work in a safe manner
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions and work standards
Able to work with the minimum supervision and to timescales
Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality
Practical hands on approach to problem solving
Experience of working to tight production targets
Understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S processes

Necessities:
Experience in a similar role.
Ability to accurately read and interpret tooling drawings.
Self motivated, independent individual that can work on own and as part of a team.
Experienced in problem solving injection moulded component part issues
Flexibility is key.
