Senior Sales Executive/Account Manager


This is an opportunity to join the UK’s biggest market leading media brand for electronic engineers and the electronics industry! The client is looking for a skilled and tenacious sales executive to work across its portfolio of digital, print and live events activities.

The position is ideal for an ambitious, self-motivated and proactive salesperson with a track record of success in media sales. We’re looking for someone who relishes the opportunity to make a difference, who is as hungry to win new clients as they are to grow existing accounts, who enjoys working across a range of media types and who wants to further develop their cross-platform sales skills on a market-leading and fast-developing media brand.

The successful candidate will join a hardworking and talented team and will work closely with the commercial director and senior account manager to help grow revenues both in existing and new products.

Key objectives

The primary objective of the role is to sell advertising space, sponsorship and other marketing options into this portfolio of products to help meet the targets and business objectives.

Key elements of this will include:

- Sales and key account management, both on the telephone and face to face, to clients in the electronics supply chain;

- Selling advertising and marketing solutions across print and digital platforms;

- Selling sponsorship of range of live events, including the awards and conferences;

- Identifying and acquiring new customers in order to generate new revenue and increase market share - new business is a key focus and requirement;

- Maintaining and growing a territory of existing accounts and building strong relationships with those clients through regular face-to-face and telephone contact and high levels of customer service;

- Managing the delivery of performance reports back to clients, in particular for digital campaigns in conjunction with the ad ops team, and where necessary with the support of the commercial director;

- Attending industry events and shows, both around the UK and occasionally overseas;

- Developing a strong understanding of the electronics market in order to identify opportunities to expand sales;

- Providing client and competitor information and intelligence to the commercial director and other team members.

Knowledge, experience and skills

The role will require a number of key skills and areas of knowledge. These will include:

- Clear and demonstrable ability to successfully sell media products in a B2B marketplace to both new and existing clients;

- Clear and demonstrable understanding of the typical products in the B2B media industry, including both print and digital ad formats and, ideally, event sponsorship;

- Demonstrable success in both new business and account management;

- Strong knowledge of, or a real desire to learn about, digital media products; including selling and reporting back to clients on digital display advertising, email campaigns, lead generation, video, native and other streams;

- Experience of selling print advertising;

- Experience of selling sponsorship to events such as awards and conferences is highly desirable;

- Experience of planning and writing proposals for clients to a high standard;

- An interest in, or knowledge of, the electronics field is preferable but not essential; however, the ideal candidate will have the drive and curiosity to quickly learn about how the industry works;

- Excellent time management and a can-do, positive, solution orientated attitude;

- Strong administrative and organisation skills;

- Reliable, efficient, enthusiastic and trustworthy with a strong committed work ethic.
