Direct Workforce are working with our well established client to recruit for an experienced HGV Service Technician in Hull, must have HGV Driving Licence and be happy to work on 4 on 4 off rotation.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Inspect vehicles to MOT standard
  • Diagnose faults and rectify all types of faults
  • Service and repair customer vehicles or components using appropriate equipment and tools in a safe and economical manner
  • Maintain current product knowledge and attend training courses as required
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • Liaise with parts department to attain parts
  • Carry out roadside assistance
  • Complete all paperwork as necessary
  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made and all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all aspects of H&S working practices are adhered to
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness

Candidate requirements:

  • Experienced in working with Commercial vehicles
  • City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • The ability to organise work on own initiative and work under pressure
  • Experience working with trailers, hydraulic systems and electrical systems
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Computer literacy, diagnostic experience essential
  • Ability to work within guidelines given and to strict deadlines
  • Ability to actively seek solutions to problems
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
  • MUST have HGV Class 1 driving licence

Other information:

The successful candidate will work 48 hour week, 4 on 4 off shift pattern. This is a permanent opportunity in Hull, salary circa £28,000 per annum.
