Options Adult Autism Services, based in Holywell, North Wales are recruiting for a Care Assistant/Life Skills Instructor. Working in a Residential Care setting in a stunning rural location, this position of Care Assistant/Life Skills Instructor is within commuting distance of Rhyl, Llandudno, Bangor, Wrexham, Flint, Prestatyn, Chester and surrounding towns. Starting salary c £16,100 p.a.

Providing care to adults with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties, the role of Care Assistant/Support Worker focuses on developing independent living skills. Following a thorough induction and training programme, your duties would include:

  • Supporting learning experiences at home and in the wider community

  • Developing domestic and personal skills to enhance independent living

  • Encouraging participation in daily tasks

  • Reporting and recording key aspects of care

  • Managing complex and challenging behaviour

  • Completing sleep-in duties on a rota basis

Skills Required:

  • Be willing to train to Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults) or equivalent - funded by Options

  • Ideally hold a valid UK driving licence and own transport to and from work

  • Keen to work with adults with autism and associated difficulties

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including weekends

In return we offer a salary scale of c£16,100 p.a. - £18,600 p.a. (plus a sleep in allowance of £31.50 per sleep in when applicable), and includes the following pay progression points:

  • After successful completion of 6 month probation, salary increase to: £16,435 p.a.

  • After successful completion of qualification, salary increase to: £17,000 p.a.
