Your new role

Hitachi Rail Europe are seeking to appoint a Ticketing Lead Engineer to join the Digital Rail Solution department based in Central London to execute Hitachi ticketing projects in the Global Market, mainly in Europe and provide the bid support for future projects.

This role is initially confined to support of existing projects in the short term, but will in time expand to cover other Hitachi Digital Rail Solution projects such as Human Flow Application, Security, Asset Management and Integrated Rail Operations in accordance with endorsed business plan.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

·To manage technical interfaces for both internal and external, and system design in conjunction with System Integrator and / or sub-contractors through the close dialogue with them.

·To facilitate required alliances and partnerships with third parties as well as establish strong relationships with the clients’ technical senior management in order to assure orders for must win bids

·To define a global standard ticketing platform such as account based system and associated passenger detection technologies.

·To define a technical solution for beyond transport solutions such as the interface with other transport modes and payment.

·To present of Hitachi’s global ticketing solution competency to the potential customers in Global Market place. Attendance on the various conference and committee for the promotion.

·To work on a collaborative approach in conjunction with Hitachi Ticketing Engineers in UK and Japan to achieve the company goals.

About you


·Working experience within an AFC: Automated Fare Collection supplier (e.g. more than two projects delivered as UK ITSO accredited supplier or Global AFC supplier)

·Profound knowledge of financial sub-systems such as Payment / Clearing / Settlement

·Profound knowledge of radio communication and associated technology

·Experience in typical V&V processes for AFC (e.g. System Integration, Requirement Management, System Design, Infrastructure Construction, Software Development, Risk Assessment, Testing & Commissioning, Acceptance, After sales support)

·Management experience leading a team of more than 10 staff

·Ability to identify goal(s) and generate value within a broader team

·Excellent relationship-building and communication skills in coordinating between diverse stakeholders both within the company (including broader group), as well as external 3rd parties


·Digitalization related engineering / development experience (e.g. IoT, Big Data Analytics, Mobility as a Service (not limited to))

·Hands free ticketing concept and PoC engineering / development experience leveraging Be-in / Be out, Walk-in / Walk-out methods

·Knowledge of associated ticketing system such as Seat reservation / Ticket shop / Ticketing APP including Route planner

·Experience working for a Japanese company

·Proficiency in a second language in addition to English (e.g. Italian, French, German, Japanese)
