Looking for a strong mechanical design engineer, with Catia V5 experience.
Auto experience will be key, due to regulations and safety considerations.
Interior trim will be the main focus.
Projects will all be bespoke, engineering the solutions to customers bespoke requests.
This can include materials work, such as polymers, plastics, carbon fibre or composites, work with valuable jewels, more complicated designs, such as bespoke picnic hampers, with moving parts, or anything else that comes through.
Role will be 50/50 designing vs project engineering, so need engineers with a good founding in project management.

Full spec:
The Bespoke Engineering Team are responsible for the Engineering Development and Release of Bespoke Customer Features which are delivered to One-Off customer request or low volume Collections of features.

Engineering work within a multifunctional team interfacing with Design, Sales, Aftersales and various Manufacturing departments.

With our highly experienced individuals, we develop and deliver features that exceed customer expectations.

Key Accountabilities

*Define 'Bespoke Feature' technical Concepts & identify the extent of appropriate development activities in achieving a Feasibility solution.
*Support generation of Business Case for Bespoke Features
*Design, Development of Bespoke Components. Generation of BOM, CAD models/data, DFMEA, Engineering drawing/specifications & Engineering Release preparation. Recognise & implement Design for Manufacturing requirements
*Programme Management of a collection of component developments.
*Generate & maintain development timing plans.
*Specify appropriate International Legal, Safety & Rolls-Royce Group standards in collaboration with Munich Engineering departments where appropriate
*Specify specific Quality standard requirements.
*Manage Bespoke Feature development activities of external suppliers, and/or internal departments (e.g. BMW dept's, Leathershop, Woodshop and Paintshop). Ensure prototype parts are produced & validated to defined Testing regimes within agreed timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

Core Qualifications and Experience
*Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
*Broad experience of Automotive Component Design and Development.
*Extensive knowledge of prototype part manufacturing techniques
*Knowledge of low & high volume Tooling options.
*Advanced CAD (Catia V5) competence required.
*Appreciation of International automotive relevant legislation
*Fluent spoken English is essential. German language would be advantageous.
*IT Competence skills Essential, ideally with knowledge of BMW Group Engineering systems (e.g. Tais, Prisma, DZA etc)
*Self-motivated individual with good interpersonal skills
*Good organisational, planning and communication skills
