IT Application Management Officer
Appointment Type: Full-time (37 Hours Per Week)

An exciting opportunity has become available as an Application Management Officer within Nottingham City Council’s IT Department. The successful candidate will work as part of a large team providing a full range of application management services for major third-party management information systems, each of which is business critical for different areas of the council’s service delivery.
The key elements of the role are as follows:
1.To provide technical system administration across multiple application systems, ensuring that they are effectively maintained, upgraded and adapted so they continue to meet changing business requirements.
2.To liaise with internal and external system suppliers, colleagues and customers so that systems continue to meet and improve on how they meet the business need. You will consult widely to establish good practice and work with colleagues to improve current procedures.
3.To work with the Customer Support Function to provide first and second line support including investigation and resolution of issues relating to applications.
4.To assist and advise in the planning and delivery of multiple projects across a wide range of business areas and systems delivering appropriate testing, implementation, support, and development.
5.To provide recommendations to senior managers on the potential application of systems and how systems can be adapted or modified to incorporate additional functionality.
6.Promote compliance with and ensure that all systems in use adhere to corporate standards and relevant legislation. E.g. Data Protection, Computer Misuse Act.
7.To ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of corporate information assets and systems and, where appropriate, ensure preventative measures are undertaken to help mitigate the risk of a security incident occurring including reporting any security breaches or exceptions.
Key areas of skills and experience we will be looking for as part of the recruitment process are as follows:
-Working knowledge, experience and understanding of supporting applications in a complex IT environment and providing technical system support and administration for large multi-user systems.
-Extensive information technology skills and understanding. Solid understanding of computer and information security and how, where and when to apply appropriate security arrangements.
-Experience of managing changes from start up through delivery to closure and review, using project planning and management.
-Experience of customer and supplier liaison to produce technical specifications to customer requirements.
-Good influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels using excellent communication skills.
-Interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work effectively as an individual and within a team in an environment of competing priorities and tight deadlines.
-Knowledge of any of the council’s business areas or major systems would also be advantageous.
