Platforms and Middleware Manager - Cloud, Storage, Databases

A major client of ours, a retail and commercial bank based C. London, is currently looking for a Platforms and Middleware Manager on a permanent basis.

The salary on offer for this role would be up to £92,000.

Purpose of the role:

To deliver a great service to our customers, both internal and external, through strong leadership and acting as a digital champion. The overall responsibility for lifecycle management within this role will cover Datacentres, Cloud, Storage, Middleware and Databases.

Accountabilities:
  • To keep abreast of technical developments including vendor product strategies and industry advancements and to participate in developing or setting standards as required
  • Provide consultancy and technical design across the business
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders


You will be building and leading a small technical team of SME's and design authority for Platforms and Middleware - as a result you will need to:
  • Assist with improving the standard of technical delivery and competencies within CIO and across the business
  • Work closely with the Group IT to deliver the full lifecycle technical roadmap
  • Ensure that technical authority role is performed including approving technical proposals and reviewing progress to ensure business needs
  • Ensure projects meet business and technical requirements
  • Work with technical teams in the IT Group, product owners and 3rd party suppliers to ensure technical solutions are aligned with technical strategy

  • Create and maintain a culture and vision where colleagues are engaged and inspired to deliver
  • Build and develop the culture of the CIO function and support the development
  • Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment

  • Clear decision making ability with the facility to judge complex situations and assess when/what to escalate
  • Lead and develop the capability of the direct reports and wider team
