Train Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £35,000 + Free Train Travel + Final salary pension + Bupa

Location: Brighton

An exciting opportunity has come about for a number of Maintenance Engineers to join the Rolling Stock industry; full training plan set out for you to become a certified Train Maintenance Engineer, working for a well-known and established Rail company.

Role profile:

As a maintenance engineer, you will need to have good understanding of mechanical principles aswell as a working knowledge of electrical principles i.e. be able to carry out laptop diagnostics alongside being to read and understand technical schematics.

This opportunity offers the right candidates the chance to develop their skills to become a multi-disciplined engineer capable of fault finding both electrically and mechanically.
You do not have to have any experience within the Rail/Train industry as you will be put through a 12 month training plan to develop your skills. You must have worked in one of the following industries as an engineer:

* Royal Air force (RAF)
* Royal Engineers (REME)
* Royal Navy
* HGV or PSV / Bus maintenance
* Car Technician (Master Technician level)
* Construction Plant
* Factories / Production line maintenance
* Energy sector – Power plants / Recycling plant maintenance

This role sees you carrying out both servicing, maintenance and heavy duty repairs to the Train / Rolling stock including the carriages.

Roles and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

* Undertake routine Electrical & Mechanical maintenance of components and systems in accordance with the relevant exam schedule
* Fault Finding
* Complete exams against fleet specs
* Compile formal reports detailing post incident / failure
* Carry out general cosmetic repairs in the carriages, such as changing, light fitting and door locks, in addition to repairing the body side of units
* Undertake basic servicing e.g. brake pads, air filters, oil etc.
* Advise Production Manager / Depot Coordinating Manager of any problems or defects identified and work arising from the issues

Required Experience

You need to be a competent Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with a minimum of an NVQ level 3 or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.

The successful candidates will come from a heavy duty engineering background involving either fault finding or maintenance of large vehicles or machinery.
