Job Responsibilities

We are looking for Security Test Analysts or Senior Analysts to join our Security Testing Team and carry out security testing of cutting-edge Met Office software applications to provide benefit for our organisation and customers.

As an Analyst you will be expected to learn the role from a Senior Security Test Analyst. As a Senior Analyst you will be expected to bring your existing knowledge and experience to the team.

You will:
* Operate as a specialist tester in an agile development environment, understanding security concerns and planning and executing tests to verify these
* Perform network penetration tests, web application assessments and server build reviews
* Clearly analyse and report your findings and work with squads to explain the severity/risk and remediation of the issues you discover
* Promote security awareness, and provide assistance to squads looking to build security testing into their sprint cycles and CI pipelines
* Carry out scheduled vulnerability scans and analyse and report on the results
* Verify security incidents and explain how to remediate these

As a Security Test Analyst, you will:

1. Have experience in an IT role such as a software developer; software tester; networks engineer; or systems administrator
2. Have a good understanding of Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems; networks and networking; and web applications and technologies
3. Have coding experience, especially in any of the following: Java, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Python or PowerShell or Shell scripting
4. Demonstrate a clear understanding of how IT Security relates to the software development lifecycle; and the value of the contribution that a software tester makes to the delivery of IT services
5. Be an effective communicator, be able to work successfully as part of a team, and be a tenacious problem-solver
6. Demonstrate an interest and/or aptitude in the field of IT security and knowledge of current issues and events

As a Senior Security Test Analyst, you will also:

1. Have experience of Security Testing or have a relevant Security Testing accreditation such as CREST
