Shift Controller £31,500 + Shift Allowance Full Time, Permanent position Hull

Your new role

The Shift Controller is accountable during the shift period for the safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation of the facility. The Shift Controller is responsible for managing a team of shift personnel in control of the process to achieve business objectives as set by the Operations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safe and efficient operation of the plant, managing the shift team to achieve reliable operations whilst maintaining compliance with health, safety and environmental standards and permits
  • Control room operations, monitoring alarms, plant checks, producing shift log reports, analysing operational activity and acting upon any deviation to normal operating conditions
  • Manage the shift team, task and monitor work activities, within defined operating procedures
  • Application of safe system of work (SSOW), permit to work and process isolation. Responsible, as senior authorised person, for the issue and control of permits to work
  • Report any accident, incidents and near miss, accurately and in a timely manner. First aid responder for medical treatments. Act as emergency controller during plant incidents
  • Control of the fuel delivery process and continuously monitor the steam cycle
  • Check, diagnose and advise on environmental parameters, analyse and make corrections in accordance with procedures and licences
  • Review, update and develop operational procedures and SSOW as required
  • Use computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to raise and monitor maintenance work orders
  • Shift work, 12 hours


What you'll need to succeed

  • A recognised engineering or process qualification at HNC /NVQ level or equivalent
  • IOSH health & safety qualification desirable
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Relevant experience in a similar process industry
  • Experience as a shift team leader or process operator
  • Experience with a permit-to-work system and safe system of work
  • Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation
