Despite being the most visited in Cambodia, Siem Reap is a very poor province and people are in desperate need of improved care and access to health, nutrition and dentistry programmes.

Many NGO’s in Siem Reap already offer health, nutrition and dental hygiene advice but would like to improve it, while others don’t have staff qualified to educate their clients about these issues but would like to set up education programs; this is where skilled volunteers can really make a difference.

Volunteers are needed to help set up programs, which can then be continued by local staff. This is an essential aspect, as it contributes to sustainability and lasting change. For healthcare and dentistry, professionals are needed to help out at “family days” where clients and the family of clients are able to attend the centre for a basic healthcare or dental check-up.

You will be asked to create the curriculum for the local team to follow, but also give advice on how best to convey the information. You may observe local team members teaching your curriculum when you can make suggestions about how to teach more effectively. Specific needs are first aid training, general oral hygiene workshops, basic nutrition advice and sexual education workshops.

A degree plus work experience in the relevant field is preferred for these placements. Because we work with a number of different placements in the area, we like to conduct telephone interviews with volunteers to establish their skills and what they are looking for, so we can make sure you are placed in the most appropriate placement.

Placement fees apply, but include accommodation, airport transfer and training and support.

Apply using the email address below and a project advisor will be in touch to discuss price and availability, with no obligations.
