Senior Engineer

OVERALL SCOPE & SUMMARY OF JOB:

1

To ensure effective servicing, repair, training and promotion of Company products within the UK, whilst providing the Customer with a superior quality service at all times.

Organise and carry out servicing, installation, repair, routine maintenance, and modification to Company products on Customer premises

To promote Company's equipment and services.

4

To ensure spares and specialised equipment provided are utilised effectively

5

To prepare accurate reports and keep detailed records as necessary, whilst following the Company procedures defined in Standing Orders and Standard Operating Procedures.

PURPOSE OF JOB KEY ACTIVITIES:

To ensure the optimum performance of products provided by the Company, and promote the benefits of routine servicing. In particular, the job holder:

1:1

Plans optimum workload and journey times to include servicing, warranty calls, and breakdown cover. Assessing priority of Customer and Company requirements, altering workload as necessary.

1:2

Services, installs, tests, and repairs equipment, replacing necessary parts or deciding on a planned replacement of parts. Modifies and tests equipment (via Service Bulletins) as required by the Company or DoH.

Product training on Company equipment & products, instructing Customers in best use and operation of equipment and products.

Investigates warranty defects to determine cause and liability costs.

1:5

Communicates daily with office to give and receive information on Customer requirements.

Services all equipment to the schedules provided.

2:1

Actively promote the advantages of the Company's services and products, by selling consumables and equipment at every opportunity.

Inform Customers of Company products, which would be beneficial to the Customer. Discuss with Customers the various means of purchasing Company products. Complete all relevant paperwork to ensure Customers' requirements are met effectively.

Contacts Company's Business Development Managers regarding Customer interest in specific products, when required.

3:1

Maintains adequate stocks of required spares, to ensure maximum 1st visit repairs, obtaining replacements spares from stores as necessary.

3:2

Maintains and calibrates specialised test equipment according to Company procedures. Orders (from office) or obtains small tools required for the job with the consent of the Senior Engineer.

4:1

Provides on a regular basis to the office, accurate detailed Service reports with all the required information, including travel and labour times, for all Jobs issued.

4:2

Completes and returns, to Senior Engineer, office or Regional Manager all other paperwork, (expenses, timesheets etc), regularly as requested by Standing Orders and Standard Operating Procedures.

Provides detailed reports on condition of Customers' machines as and when required. Assesses and reports on reliability of new products and modifications.

Suggest improvements to machine performance discussing needs with Technical Support Managers and Customers.

4:5

Maintains and updates critical record of Objectives for own use and the benefit of the department.

PERSONAL QUALITIES 1

Requires diagnostic skills to find, rectify, and anticipate defects in equipment.
