A creative, independent, non-fiction illustrated book publisher is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate to assist its expansion as they increase the quantity of books and magazines they produce annually. Working under the Publishing Manager, the editor's role will be to help the company build its catalogue of products to as high a standard as possible and develop its reputation as a respected creative publisher.

The company is looking for a highly organised individual with editorial experience, good interpersonal skills, an excellent command of the English language, and a creative edge who will be passionate about a publication's content as well as the wider aims of the business.

Key responsibilities
- Commissioning and briefing artists for assigned books, magazines, and supporting website content
- Building a rapport with and managing artists to make sure briefs are followed, supporting them as necessary to meet the high quality expected
- Adhering to schedules to ensure projects are delivered on time
- Communicating any problems with schedules or content to the rest of the team and devising solutions
- Editing content to a high level of quality to ensure it is:
a) Consistent with the project brief, book vision as outlined at planning meetings, and house style rules
b) Marked up and ready for the designers to lay to page
- Writing marketing copy and creating material for the sales team
- Organising, preparing for, and contributing to project planning meetings
- Maintaining key documentation for projects and following up where this is outstanding
- Liaising with suppliers to determine costs and schedules for projects
- Working with the management team and online editor to generate content and maintain any brand websites, social media platforms, and crowd funding campaigns relating to your projects

- Creative flare

Desirable
- Writing/copy-writing skills
- An interest in the creative arts, crafts, and the environment
- Experience in Adobe InDesign
