We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Pipe Stress at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As an Engineering Manager - Pipe Stress, you will be accountable for the analysis and substantiation of pipe systems and related component structures within the Dreadnought Hull and Outfit team.
This role will provide you with to lead a team of experienced pipe stress engineers with a goal to deliver an analysis/design solution on projects at the forefront of technology.
Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Pipe Stress will involve:
Leading the development and justification of mechanical pipe system design solutions and mechanical components for major submarine programmes
Promoting engagement with the wider programme teams to ensure that the mechanical pipe systems functional requirements are achieved, and are appropriately balancing with other stakeholder requirements
Progressing reporting, including the identification of relevant issues, risks and opportunities
Providing realistic programme status, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans
Undertaking detailed peer review and checking/verifying as required
Confirming beyond reasonable doubt, by review, surveillance and audit, that those assumptions underpinning engineering data, analysis methodologies, and interpretation of results have been validated
Producing evidence in support of qualification, legislative requirements and safety justifications and provide specialist support for associated activities
Developing detailed process documentation (Maps, Instructions, Forms etc.) as appropriate
Your skills and qualifications:
Degree qualified in STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics) or equivalent experience
Demonstrable experience in stakeholder engagement
Demonstrable experience within pipe stress engineering
Knowledge of Pipe Stress Analysis Calculations including PSA5 and Finite Element Analysis
PM qualification ILM - desirable
