The retailer has a solid format for growth with strong logistic and supply foundations.

About the Job:

Birmingham based with some travel. Will need own transport.

Your current position:

Senior AM of a corporate/blue chip retailer working on a clothing portfolio with at least 1 direct report.

Salary expectation: £20k p.a. with O.T.E. and immediate career growth within the business.

Skill set:

Organized, efficient, supportive, takes initiative, team-worker, good (clear)communicator. Level-headed opportunist.

Reporting to:

Managing Director (& Owner), working with warehouse, stores and buyer(s).

The Day Job:


Updating and maintaining current WSSI, with suggestions to be made to the MD on stocklevels and areas to drive up sales and margin.

Store sales planning:

Ensuring up-to-date store weekly sales and profit plans are maintained for the year with trending applied. Using these to update the WSSI and ensure stock is optimal to achieve the sales required.

Range planning:

Set up and maintain a range plan, ensuring all forward commitment is constantly analysed to ensure balance is maintained in the business and LFL is protected.

Option/space control:

Working with the MD and buyer to ensure that optimal density is always maintained, but still ensuring bestsellers are potentialised. Clear as you go will be key.


Clear promotional plans and key markdown periods to be drawn up, driven and monitored. Strategies for clear-as-you-go to be developed to prevent any distressed markdown situations.

All markdowns will need to be worked up, ensuring highest margin maintained but best clearance.

Promotional calendars including key times of the year to be owned by the merchandiser.


Chasing the sale by reacting to bestsellers and clearing slow sellers through promotional/markdown activity.

Working closely with the buyers, owner and suppliers to optimize bestseller stock availability at all times.

Driving Monday trade with forward trade decisions for the week and month.

Managing weekly and monthly OTB with the warehouse for the MD.

New store openings:

Working with the MD to understand sales potential o any new site. Building balanced stock packages with limited time for new stores. Physically assisting and getting involved with new store openings.

Own online growth:

Driving own online business by ensuring ranking is a good representation of bestsellers. Stock availability is paramount.


Mondays - including suggestions for trade and ensuring LFL protected/growth potentialised. Trade will need top be reported on by brand, department and store.

Keeping MD informed of WSSI updates, buyer of OTB (£ and options) by brand on a weekly basis.

Working with the warehouse:

Ensuring "levels" are input and maintained on database for key lines for stock allocation and replenishment.

OTB restrictions are put in place.

Deliveries are booked in a timeous fashion.

Supplier visits:

Visiting suppliers when necessary to build relationships and potentialise stock availability.

Store visits:

Assist with store openings. Plan in store visits to work schedule. When visiting store ensuring all markdowns are actioned, bestsellers are front facing, promotions are strong, replenishment has been actioned, backroom is clear.
