The company

I am working with a start-up company who have just had huge investments and therefore are looking to add 2x C++ Developers to the team.

You will be at the forefront of each project and your key role will be designing and building smart and fast algorithms and an intuitive interface, capable of imaging single molecules and resolving biological matter.

You will be developing using a combination of C++, CUDA, Python, Qt and OpenGL in a Visual Studio development environment.

Progression:

There will be room to grow with and within the business, and opportunities to liaise directly with customers and clients. We are lightweight on formal process (we have a basic Kanban board and Git workflow) and you will be expected to be self-managing, proactive and share responsibility with the other developers for each task in hand. Previous experience working in a commercial environment would be advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities:

-Build and maintain innovative, efficient, reliable and maintainable C++ code
-Design and implement data analysis and instrumentation control algorithms in C++, CUDA and Python
-Design and develop functional and intuitive user interface components using Qt
-Help maintain code quality through continuous refactoring and proactive reviewing of peers' code
-Identify and provide solutions to bugs and other issues
-Translate high-level customer requests and business goals into elegant software solutions
-Contribute to the overall software development plan

Skills we use and require:

-Demonstrated proficiency in C++, preferably using C++11 and developing for Windows
-Experience with CUDA and/or OpenCL
-Experience with Git or another version control system
-First university degree in a technical field, eg maths, computer science, physics, engineering, and continued enthusiasm to delve into math
-Experience with analysing and visualizing scientific data in a statistically rigorous way
Additionally, we would be very keen to speak to candidates with machine learning experience.

Experience with the following is desired ONLY:

-Graphics rendering through conventional APIs (OpenGL/DirectX)
-Reading/implementing/writing scientific papers on cutting-edge algorithms
-GUI development in Qt
-Writing safe concurrent C++ code
-Python, particularly interfacing between Python and C++
-Data visualisation using web technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript, node.js, d3.js etc..)
-Experience with firmware/electronics (eg Arduino)
-Time series analysis
