Mechanical Design/Development Engineer - Oldham

£32,000 - £38,000 + Pension + Health

Perpetual Partnerships are a North West based recruitment consultancy with a significant track record of supporting the key goals of organisations within the engineering community.

The Company

The company is a niche business who design, develop and manufacture bespoke electro-mechanical equipment and machinery. They are part of a multi-million-pound corporation, however, operate as an SME business in the UK. This means you have the stability of a large business with the variety and interest factor of a smaller enterprise. In response to a record year in 2016, our client is now looking to grow their highly skilled team further.

The Role

You will be responsible for taking projects from initial concept, right through to completion. This includes dealing directly with the customer giving technical support and coming up with the concept design (developing new "blue sky" ideas). You will need to have experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering as the product is electro-mechanical.

The Person

The right candidate will have a First Class (or 2:1) Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a genuine passion for engineering, and have a naturally creative and innovative mentality. You will have an appetite for coming up with new ideas, taking them from initial concept stage through to completion, and seeing the finished product. The right candidate will be able to communicate at all levels, and enjoy managing their own projects, but also working part of a team.

  • Experience doing concept design of electro-mechanical equipment (they use SolidWorks).

  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.

  • Experience with AC / DC. Experience of medium or high voltage switchgear.

  • The right person will be confident and able to communicate at all levels, and be comfortable presenting to senior members of the company.

  • Have high ambitions - one day they will want to run their division/company within the group.

  • Have the willingness and ability to learn.

Benefits, Prospects & Training

You will receive first class training including personal development being trained by some of the most skilled engineers in the business, and professional development such as higher education.
