Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation (CISWO) is a national charity whose mission is to improve the lives of individuals and communities facing disadvantage due to the impact of the coal mining industry.
CISWO operates a local day centre in Pontefract, for individuals from former mining communities. The Thornycroft Centre delivers a range of activities and interventions, alongside opportunities to socialise and a meal for beneficiaries. Drivers transport beneficiaries by minibus to and from the facility by minibus. The Centre is open from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.
We would like to hear from anyone who is interested in being a driver on occasional hours to cover holidays and sickness.
Responsibilities include: picking up and dropping off beneficiaries each day from their homes; arranging servicing, maintenance and cleaning of the vehicle; and driving to deliver meals to sheltered accommodation, load/unload the meals and help to serve them.
The successful applicant must hold a clean driving licence have good communication skills, display excellent customer service skills and a caring disposition when dealing with beneficiaries who may be older people or have a disability. Applicants should have a flexible approach to work, working supportively and co-operatively with colleagues at all times.
Please note that the shift will be split. Typical driving time can start from 7am/8am in the morning and last for around two and a half hours to do a pick up and 2pm - 4.30pm to do the drop off.
A DBS check will be required, plus a full, clean UK driving licence with a D1 category.
Closing date for returning completed applications is Wednesday 6th June 2018.
CISWO is committed to the provision of a supportive learning environment for staff and equality of opportunity in all aspects of its work.
