My Client is currently looking to recruit a Shift Electrical Engineer to complement the team in their canning department at their Wakefield site. In this role you will be responsible for utilising your electrical/mechanical skills to support the business in meeting its EHS, efficiency, production and costs targets. In order to focus on continuous improvement this role will encompass both reactive and preventative maintenance.

* The shift electricians report to the shift manager, and the plant operates a 4 on 4 off shift pattern a combination of both days and nights.
* To maintain the quality standards as defined in the quality methods & standards manual.
* The safe repair and maintenance of electronic/ electrical equipment within the Plant.
* Safe fault finding and tuning of electrical/electronic equipment to ensure the safe and efficient running of the manufacturing process.
* Project work and modifications to existing plant electrical/electronic systems.
* Computer maintenance, operation and fault finding for the Plant systems.
* Use of ancillary equipment such as forklift trucks as required providing they have been trained and hold a valid FLT driver's licence.
* Maintaining up to date electrical drawings for all equipment and systems.
* Risk assess all proposed electrical work to ensure that the work can be and is done safely.
* To maintain the production requirements of the plant with minimum spoilage.
* To have good communications with management and fellow workers, reporting quality defects, manufacturing difficulties and ideas for improvements.
* Maintain housekeeping to the standard defined in the Housekeeping and Hygiene procedure. * To maintain safe working practices and comply with all company environmental, health and safety requirements.

* A recognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering
* Problem solving / fault finding
* Preferably Manufacturing/Engineering background in a high speed, high volume continuous process
* Experience of Industrial Electrical control using PLC's.
* Proven record of achievement
* Good computer skills - ability to manage via computerised data
* Working knowledge of relevant Legislation e.g. Electricity at work regulations 1989
* Knowledge of PLC programming, AC/DC drives and AC Servo Systems
* Previous experience programming PLCs (desirable)
* Electrical skills to include new electrical installations and fault-finding skills.
* Some basic fault diagnostic skills using PLC systems is essential (software and hardware)
* Knowledge of inverter drives, sensors and safety circuits (control methods)

My client is offering a salary of £40,000 to £47,000pa plus pension.
