UI Developer

As a UI Developer for Argos you will be pushing cutting-edge code on the UK’s 2nd largest retail website visited by over 900 million customers.

What you will be doing

Building the new awesome responsive UI of the Argos website
Apply best UI engineering practices with other team members, using merge requests to maintain code quality across teams.
Working in an agile environment cooperating with Product and UX to produce an excellent, user friendly experience.
Discuss and develop skills with other UI team members at the fortnightly UI developer meetings
Continuous integration on the platform
Be a part of a talented and motivated team

What we have worked recently

New React.js and Flux web apps.
Isomorphic node.js applications. Still work in progress though.

What a day in the office might look like

Open laptop your choice Windows or Mac, check emails or slack, review yesterday’s tasks and plan today’s.

Check, comment and merge Pull Requests.

Stand-up time…

Coffee time…

Headphones on and start coding.

Feature almost done,

Lunch break with colleagues.

Coming back it’s all looking good, time to move to the sofas (if we were not there already)

Tests are passing, look to review and further optimise the code.

Ready for release!"

Experience & Skills

Preferably a degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
At least 5 years of javascript commercial experience. Preferably 6 months or more of React. Value functional programming concepts.
Experience in processing pull requests and keeping up standards.
You have worked on larger projects.
You can develop responsive websites with your eyes
