As a result, they are now creating yet another brand new department to take advantage of their immense unlicensed medicine sourcing requests from around the globe. This unique role within this unique organisation requires a unique skillset;

 1) Pharmacist background
 2) Experience sourcing difficult medicines (e.g. Rare Diseases medicines, Unlicensed medicines etc.)
 3) Multinational commercial awareness

This person will lead the start-up of this brand new department implementing practical solutions to increase the effective delivery of unlicensed medicine on-demand sourcing needs for Physicians, Investigators, Doctors, Hospitals and Pharmacies etc. across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership

• Leadership of sourcing team to meet KPIs and deliver growth targets
• Define, lead and deliver the  plan for the development and expansion of the supplier network
• Achievement of agreed individual KPIs
• Working collaboratively and cross functionally to ensure all teams contribute to the excellence of medicine access
• Act as a role model and work within company values and behaviours

 

2. On-demand Sourcing for medicine access

• Engage with key stakeholders to meet the on-demand product requirements for pharmacists, physicians, hospitals and other customers
• Work alongside and engage with customer service for sourcing enquiries increasing the conversion rate sourcing to order ratios.
• Plan and execute process enhancements to improve turnaround and conversion rates for the successful sourcing of on-demand product requests
• Provide country-specific market intelligence to mitigate supply risk, gain competitive advantage and make better business sourcing decisions. Continuously conduct detailed supplier and supply market analysis at country level looking at facts and indicating market trends in supply base and technology
• Drive sourcing excellence and ensure consistent and sustainable application of state of the art sourcing methodologies
• Sourcing support to Customer Service and Heads of Department
o Deliver and drive customer sourcing related efficiencies
o Rationalise existing service and vendor service contracts and Service Level Agreements
o Ensure Value for Money is achieved by the Group
o Meeting and assisting others with keeping to delivery deadlines

 

3. Personal Effectiveness

• Achievement of agreed individual and project KPIs
• Working collaboratively and cross functionally to ensure all teams contribute to the excellence of service delivery


4. People Development

• Direct responsibility for the development of the Sourcing team performance
• Create a vision and environment/culture for the team that attracts and retains world-class people
• Ensure all direct reports have comprehensive personal development plans, linked to objectives
• Carry out performance reviews with direct reports -quarterly
• Ongoing skills/competencies and development needs assessment for direct reports with plan for addressing needs and gaps
• Develop a strong sense of co-operation and teamwork with a focus on common business goals and KPIs
• Establish effective succession planning within Sourcing team
• Provide constructive feedback to all team members and coaching where required
• Ensure the teams work within the Group’s values at all times


5. Personal Development

• Develop and maintain effective business relationships with clients and with major relevant organizations, societies, networks
• Develop and maintain effective business relationships with key staff

 

Skill Requirements:

• Qualified Pharmacist with post-registration work experience
• Membership of CIPS or equivalent
• Degree educated or equivalent
• Significant public sector procurement experience with a working knowledge of EU procurement rules and legislation
• Excellent relationship management, networking and interpersonal skills
• Team management and leadership skills and experience
• Ability to influence, persuade and negotiate with key stakeholders
• Ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate a busy workload with good time management skills
• Strong sense of initiative with an enthusiastic, positive and professional attitude
• Strategic thinker who can translate strategy into implementation
Desirable skills
• Experience and/or knowledge of working with the NHS or operating in a regulated environment
• Innovative with the ability to inspire and lead the implementation of change
