Job Title:  Marketing  Communications Intern – The Evening Standard

Reporting to: Communications Manager

Department: Marketing Partnerships

Division: ESI Media


Main purpose of the role

As a Marketing Communications Intern, you will work with the Communications Manager, the Head of Promotions and the Director of Marketing Partnerships, as well as the wider Marketing Partnerships team, to help deliver and monitor key messages over a range of channels and formats focusing on Evening Standard and Independent promotions and digital partnerships. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Copywriting in house style across mediums (print and digital)
  • Proof read communications prior to publication
  • Post campaign analysis
  • Social media activity analysis
  • CMS administration
  • Handling competition entry data and contacting winners
  • Preparing and dispatching ‘initial enquiry’ packs
  • Researching and writing social media communications, managing and scheduling (tweetdeck) output
  • General communications using our Twitter/FB accounts
  • Publish, maintain and promote partner promotions on social media platforms - growing followers and friends
  • Monitor and respond to communications

Main Responsibilities

Print & digital

  • Write and edit copy for publication in paper and online
  • Proof read all (inc. colleagues)  copy prior to publication
  • Use CMS program to update and administer online promotions, ensuring they are uploaded and removed in accordance to start/close dates
  • Extract competition entry data and identify and contact winners
  • Handle reader data responsibly and securely
  • Prepare and distribute ‘initial enquiry’ packs of ES promotion examples to potential clients
  • Ad-hoc promotions and London Live admin and support

Social media

  • Deliver reactive and proactive Social Media: writing updates and responses to announcements; identifying, initiating and placing features
  • Actively manage the growth of our current social media tools (Twitter, FB), and drive activity to the Evening Standard and Independent websites
  • Monitor postings and interactions on social media platforms
  • Build links with relevant partners and their social media activity, stories and news trends
  • Provide social media support to all partner campaigns from initiation to campaign close
  • Create and deliver analysis of social media and website activity (Google analytics) – demonstrate correlations of activity between the two and/or print activity/campaigns
  • Use social media tools to champion the Evening Standard brand
