Senior Marketing Manager (FMCG / Consumer Retail / Franchises) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire - up to £80,000 basic plus benefits. We are seeking an experienced marketing manager from a consumer retail background, used to a franchise model, to take on the strategic position of Head of Marketing for a successful global brand's UK operations.

Reporting to the European Marketing Director you will lead the marketing efforts for the UK and Ireland, focused on building brand equity. You will lead the marketing strategy, partnering with key stakeholders to develop marketing and media plans. This will involve leading a team of people, liaising with agencies, regional offices, sponsorship entities and franchisees.

At the core of the role is customer insight. Your expertise will develop process and direct reporting, to effectively measure the performance of the brand, promotions and other marketing programs. This information will need to be translated into tangible future program ideas and improvements.

This business operates a franchise model and your position will be accountable to both the corporate business and to the franchise board. You will lead Brand Managers, Marketing Managers, Media Agencies and PR Agencies and liaise heavily with R&D. This strategic leadership will see you attending multiple meetings and conferences, often in London but occasionally abroad. On that note, the majority of time you will be based in the Cambridgeshire office but should be aware that you may sometimes need to travel to London several times in a week.

To be considered you must have extensive experience of consumer retail, with a brand that sells directly to the consumer, with a thorough understanding of the marketing, promotions and media that is crucial to the brand's success. The example we would expect to see a proven track record of delivering successful creative communication campaigns using outdoor, TV advertising and radio channels. The ideal candidate will come from foodservice retail or an agency with notable foodservice clients.

In summary we are seeking a marketing expert from a foodservice retailer with a franchise model, to focus mainly on strategic planning, review customer insight and carry out marketing leadership, have agency involvement and budgetary management responsibilities - all with the aim of increasing sales in the region.

The basic salary for this role will be around £80,000 but we will consider applications from people looking for slightly lower or higher than this. We are awaiting confirmation of whether this role has a car or car allowance in addition to the basic salary - please assume it won't, for the moment have either.
