Safety and Sustainability Advisor
You will support the SHE Manager with the effective and efficient running of the Sustainability, Quality, Safety & Environmental Policy.
My Client is a highly regarded organisation who is currently seeking a Part-time Safety and Sustainability Advisor to join their team based in Normanton, Wakefield.
As the Safety and Sustainability Advisor you will understand the Company Health & Safety and Environmental (SHE) Policies and Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements are implemented.
Assist with and undertake SHE Advisory Visits, Inspections and Audits where required of operational sites. You will obtain competency cards in line with the company Competence Card Compliance Policy e.g. CSCS/CCNSG
With regards to Carbon accounting/footprint details etc, to assist in general and work with the team and be responsible for monitoring and reporting on all data relating to areas of operations including depots, plant and machinery, offices and schemes.
Assist in providing advice on the practical implementation of the company's SHE policies and processes. Assist the SHE Manager and other members of the SHE team, in key tasks to assist in the development, management, implementation and monitoring of the Safety, Health and Environmental Management System.
Research Environmental Issues and best practices as directed by the SHE Manager. When directed, assist with the preparation of SHE risk assessments and Method Statements. Help with the monitoring, analysis of and reporting of SHE performance and the investigation of Environmental incidents.
You will be required to produce and maintain bi-monthly Environmental themes in line with CIRIA Construction Environmental Manual 2015. Maintenance and management of Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register.
Assist SHE manager and Contract Management in understanding of stakeholders (internal and external) aims, priorities and risks with regards to SHE. Provide operational and functional management with advice on the prevention of accidents, incidents and ill health
You will provide advice and guidance for obtaining legal consents, licenses and exemptions such as discharge consents, abstraction licenses and waste management licenses as and when required and as directed. Liaise with the other members of the SHE Team and the wider organisation with regards to the Environment
Assist SHE Manager, CDM Assurance Manager and Contract Management in establishing, managing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as local authorities, HSE, EA, and others.
Prepare and implement SHE training/briefings, as directed. Manage Environmental legislative issues for clients and maintain an awareness of how legislation impacts projects.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working in a similar role previously.
NHSS Sector Scheme 12a/12b (Can work towards in post)
An understanding of best practice in energy management
Relevant SHE experience in construction/engineering industry
Part Time 16hours Per Week
Salary: £28,000- £34,000 Pro-rata
