Product Control Manager

Salary £120,000 - £140,000 + bens + bonus

Reporting to: Senior Country Manager, London and Head of Global Markets EMEA

Overall purpose of the role

To lead the product controllers’ team in London

Main responsibilities and duties of the role:

  • Management of London team, staff selection and group organisation
  • Set-up and management of daily, weekly and monthly processes (Market Data feed and control, Independent Price Verification IPV, PnL production, explanation and validation, client contribution and business profitability monitoring, French Banking Law and Volcker KPIs, …)
  • Synchronisation with Head Office to ensure the implementation of SDR global processes
  • Ensure global product control practices consistency
  • Coordination with other departments and organisation in order to ensure an efficient set-up of the group
  • Strong interaction with local stakeholders and head office to ensure the best practice regarding valuation are applied (observability, identification and resolution of pricing issues for complex derivative transactions, scope review, consistency with prudent valuation requirements, OIS discounting, …)
  • Implementation of new regulation requirement and/or new KPIs (Fundamental Review of Trading Book, …)
  • The product control uses a global IT platform and the same in-house developed tools on a global basis. It is fed by the Front-Office systems and enables the different teams worldwide to perform the same control duties within a secured and normalised global framework.

Responsible for producing:

On a daily basis:

- PnL daily production, explanation/comments and reporting

- Income attribution process

- Business profitability monitoring, including client contribution

- Review of significant deals

- Market data daily monitoring and control

- Static data management

Responsible for reviewing:

As the product control expert of London activities:

  • Monthly IPV process: ensure that all trades are properly marked according to fair value principles, validate the complex market parameters required to obtain the validated PnL, compute and analyse market reserves, Day one PnL, XVa

Key skills, experience and personal attributes required:

- Experience in product or valuation control, with managerial experience

- Quantitative / risk management background with a strong experience in pricing, thorough knowledge of derivatives and good understanding of multiple asset classes (Equities, Credit, Commodities, Rates)

- Result oriented and very keen on implementing changes; able to challenge data and processes in a constructive manner

- Ability to achieve ambitious goals within a highly stressed environment and an ambitious timeframe (capable of handling multiple tasks at once, meeting tight deadlines)

- Excellent communication and presentation skills (both oral and written) and ability to interact with top management and front offices, as well as finance and risk

- Aptitude to work within a matrix and fast-paced environment

- Willing to develop a strong knowledge and understanding of products and in-house processes, practices and tools
