Our client is an advertising technology company that specialises in social targeting, working with over 120 leading advertisers across the UK and Europe. They analyse what users share in social media and who they're connected to, so that advertisers can target their marketing campaigns to groups of users connected around particular interests. They deliver increased performance and social media insights beyond what's currently available in the industry.

This is a full-time graduate job opportunity. Salary: £20-25k depending on experience.

How can you expect to spend your day:

* You will be responsible for monitoring, commissioning and upgrading the company's servers.
* You will ensure that they have the server capacity when needed. You will be familiar with setting up and managing AWS (Amazon's Elastic Computing).
* You will be comfortable in at least one scripting language apart from Bash.
* You will be familiar with a setting up, monitoring and scaling a variety of systems - MongoDB clusters, Redis clusters, Neo4j, MySQL.
* You will also be responsible for IT functions within the company. This includes hardware like laptops and printers; and networking.

The ideal intern's personality and qualifications:

* The ideal candidate will have a familiarity (or a keen desire to learn) with AWS, Hadoop, MongoDB, Redis, Nginx, Puppet.
* Linux, user administration, databases, resource optimisation.
* Experience of programming in a scripting language like Bash, Python, Ruby is essential.
* Networking (Internet, LAN, wireless).
* This company is looking for someone with a strong analytical mind. Someone with the ability to figure out where and what the bottlenecks are. The type of person to ask "Why?" and "Can this be done any faster?".
* This company works with HUGE datasets. They process millions of data points every month, about a million nodes, and millions of edges and this data is growing every day! Therefore experience with storing or processing large datasets would be a big plus.
* Some of the technologies they use are - AWS, Map/Reduce, NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis), MySQL, Twisted and *nix. Experience with some or all of the mentioned is desirable.
* An understanding of ad servers and/or ad exchanges would also be of benefit.
