The Client:
The Green Recruitment Company are pleased to be working with a ground breaking construction developer.
The Role:
We are currently looking for an experienced Contracts Manager for a permanent position to cover the main branch but also operate within a wider geographical area of the Midlands. The successful candidate will be based in the Midlands and will be responsible for the day to day management and overall success of this innovating company.
• Develop excellent relationships with client representatives and consultants
• Train, motivate, coach and retain high quality operatives and staff to deliver levels of customer service
• Achieve the highest standards of customer care service and delivery
• Preparation and interrogation of Project programmes
• Understand budget, control cost and deliver projects within forecast cost
• Ensure compliance with all internal and external policies including Health, Safety and Environmental, WTD, CDM and statutory regulations
• Carry out site quality audits and take appropriate action
• Provide technical support and advice to the Client, Project Supervisor and Operatives
• Identify, manage and advise the Operations Director of any commercial risk
• Liaise with Supply Chain
• Preparation of external and internal reports
• Ensure accurate monthly financial and departmental reporting
• Ensure KPIs as specified are met
• Plan cost effective use of resources
• Management of own building projects
• Line manage project supervisors and working supervisors/foremen
• Ensure all pre-construction requirements for the successful delivery of projects are met
• Maintain high level of control of all assets including vehicles, tools, hired and owned plant, etc.
• Deliver projects to a high quality within time scale and to client satisfaction


• Extensive project management experience gained in the general building / Decent Homes sector including directing resource and cost control
• Experience of project managing multiple projects
• Be able to deliver projects with a mixture of directly employed tradesmen and subcontractors
• Proven ability to work to and develop operating procedures
• Strong client liaison skills
• Man management and team development skills with particular experience of leading a team of managers
• Strong understanding of the building industry and related sectors
• Full working knowledge of CDM and Building Regulations
• Valid Construction Site Manager Safety Certificate (SMSTS)
• Full understanding of Health & Safety legislation and statutory requirements including COSHH and IEE regulations

Desirable qualities for this company:

• Proven ability to create, monitor and interrogate construction programmes
• Ability to read and interrogate construction drawings
• Previous experience of the estimating process
• Relevant professional qualifications
• Exposure to financial information including P&L
• Understanding of Partnering and Open book practices
• 5 Day CITB Site Safety Management training scheme
• ONC/HNC in Construction
