Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer to develop and design cutting-edge 3D CAD software, providing innovative solutions to customers, on some of the most forward-thinking areas of 3D engineering.

This is the perfect transition if you are finishing a highly numerical degree / Ph.D. or currently work as a Design Engineer and would like join a company that are technically innovative and pushing the boundaries within their technical space.

Location: Cambridge

Salary: Entirely dependent on experience but you can expect to earn between £25,000 - £45,000 + good benefits

Requirements for Design Engineer:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Software, Mechatronics, or related discipline
  • Proficiency in CAD (or SolidWorks, MatLab, Labview, C++/C#)
  • Experience creating 2D drawings
  • Demonstrable understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Experience of the full lifecycle of the new product engineering and its development
  • Understanding of Automated Systems, Robots, 2D/3D Computer Vision Path
  • Understanding of planning for Robotics, machine learning, perception and sensing for Robot Guidance
  • Proven track record of successful application of software to engineering solutions and systems
  • Experience of New Product Development, Risk Analysis and Risk Mitigation.
  • Flexibility to travel

Desirable is:

  • Hands-on commercial experience with potential to lead a team of Engineers and projects
  • Thorough understanding of energy usage, materials handling, thermodynamic processes, fluid mechanics, vehicles and environmental controls
  • Ability to determine appropriate materials, components, equipment, system and specification for manufacture
  • Capable of designing and developing cost-effective robust electro-mechanical systems
  • Ability to organise and install control systems
  • Experience of producing reports
