I have a fantastic opportunity with NHS for an application Developer. This role is a full time assignment for 3 months.

The purpose of the role is to design, develop, deliver and maintain in-house and commercial clinical, administrative and information web applications to support both internal and external clients. The post holder will work with colleagues, stakes holders and others to ensure delivery of high quality and timely products that meet the requirements of the clients. The post holder will also help to ensure existing applications are maintained and improved.

1. Core Duties and Responsibilities

Application Design and Development

" Architect, develop, implement and support application solutions using a variety of technologies & tools. This includes system administration, configuration, development and deployment.
" Develop and implement systems adhering to local and national healthcare standards and specifications.
" Follow industry standard coding practices and architectural guidelines.
" Communicate complex information to technical and non-technical staff at all levels on business or clinical processes.
" Liaise, as necessary, with staff at all levels to resolve faults across NHS organisations or external companies, and third-party suppliers where necessary to facilitate service delivery.
" Research and provide advice to management on new technologies, tools and standards, assessing its potential for enhancement of existing services.
" Adopt new methodologies, languages and technologies for existing and new application delivery.
" Produce software system designs, task estimates, migration plans and support documentation.
" Ensure systems are tested for accuracy, performance, data quality and resilience.
" Support application releases and upgrades.

Project Management

" Work closely with system users, software developers, business analysts and external suppliers to formulate project task definitions, detailed design specifications and time estimates.
" Liaise with business analysts and user communities to document and agree solution specifications.
" Work to agreed timelines and ensure delivery on time.
" To deliver IT Services in line with the IT Service Level Agreements
" Produce test plans and support testing activity.
" Liaise with all grades of user to ensure understanding, and that objectives have been met.
" Provide regular performance reports on progress, status and achievements for own tasks to be used by both Management and Users.
" Participate in the development and implementation of projects, where required, to maintain a good understanding of departmental services and ensure the provision of integrated solutions and that user objectives are achieved.
" Participate in and contribute to project management methodologies & processes such as Prince2

Planning and Organisation

" Organise their own work effectively and work on their own initiative.
" Work with minimal supervision and use reporting tools/mechanisms mandated by departmental and team leads.

Policy and Governance

" Adhere to policies for own work area in line with legislation, policies and guidelines across the Trust, where appropriate.
" Participate in Information Governance and security as required and ensure appropriate governance and security in own area.
" Participate in quality management, undertaking audits to improve IT systems and services.
" Ensure change management is applied in own areas and follows department procedures.
" Ensure all documentation relating to own area is complete and fit for purpose and all releases relating to hardware, software and documentation is controlled.
