CISO - Chief Information Security Officer

As the CISO, you will be the owner of all discretionary and non-discretionary security spend, approximately £5m. You will need to manage and direct other security managers and teams whose responsibilities will include the following:

  • Security Operations
  • Information Risk Management
  • Business Continuity Planning
  • Access & Identity Management Systems
  • Security Incident Response Team
  • Security Projects Implementation & Engineering
  • Security Forensics
  • Physical Security & Guarding

With responsibility for all aspects of security, including information, cyber, technical and physical you will be required to provide the following:

  • The oversight of all security related controls across the business.
  • The provision of efficient, timely and relevant advice to the business to manage and enhance our security risk response.
  • The establishment and maintenance of the security profile across the industry through relationships with relevant external parties together with presentations and discussions at external events.

The role also requires that the holder be a key contributor to the corporate strategy and to actively support and deliver against corporate objectives and supporting KPIs.

Essential Experience:

  • At least 10 years' experience in running and maintaining security departments across either of the following sectors: Financial Services, Telecommunications, National Grid, Utilities, Defence, MI5/GCHQ.
  • Be demonstrably able to act on own initiative to develop and deliver security strategy
  • Experience of managing the security interface with schemes and or their members as required on security issues
  • In depth knowledge of security
  • Experience of presenting and communicating at board level
  • A thorough understanding of physical and information security management
  • In depth knowledge of investigative tools and methodologies
  • Ability to provide supporting security advice whilst under business pressure
  • Effective influencing ability at all levels
  • Communication - requires effective communication skills - both written and oral - to deal with large diverse customer base (internal and external)
  • Problem solving - excellent analysis and deductive skills
  • Customer focus - passion for excellence
