Procurement and Supply Chain Manager
Our client has a vacancy for a Procurement and Supply Chain Manager. You will have responsibility of strategically and practically reviewing all procurement across the business, identifying cost savings and efficiencies, and to lead contract negotiations for purchasing of all raw materials, packaging and services.
Taking an entrepreneurial approach, and reporting to the Operations Director, you must have good verbal and written communication skills, exceptional negotiation skills with ability to influence at senior levels, and build strong working relationships with both suppliers, colleagues and customers.
You will be in control of the full process from supplier identification and auditing, contract negotiations, quotations and scheduling, through to metrics and quality performance measurement.
You must be able to work under your own initiative when required, make decisions as appropriate and possess the resourcefulness to highlight risks and potential opportunities.
Lead the contract negotiations for all raw material and packaging contracts and manage relationships.
Develop and implement SLA’s with key suppliers to facilitate enhanced supply and reduce onsite stock holding.
Develop and maintain a suite of KPIs to measure and challenge quality, cost and delivery performance and act on the results were required.
Performance review meetings with suppliers and distribution carriers
Manage the development of supply chain and continuous improvement projects affecting cost, quality and delivery
Study and analyse markets to make recommendations of possible savings without detracting from quality requirements.
Implement and manage a supplier quality management system that ensures compliance with all relevant standards including managing supplier relationships and auditing.
Ensuring all negotiated gains are tracked, measured and delivered
Work closely with the global NPD team to ensure that all materials (including packaging) are suitable and available for product launches
Inform other departments of all relevant information regarding changes in materials, major price movements, delivery lead times and individual supply situations.
Maintain accurate records of all procurement activity
Effectively ensure material supply meets production requirements with minimum stock levels, whilst optimising costs
Take ownership of material planning issues that arise, including over or under delivery and take any follow up actions especially in the event of material shortages that affect production
Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions
Manage inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place
Manage the material capacity planning process within the business
Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time
Seek and recommend solutions to overcome issues arising to meet production requirements and address operational risks
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to forecast, plan and facilitate on-time materials to the production line
Take lead on internal and external relationships to ensure consistent, timely and effective communication regarding material availability
Support new business initiatives and projects and contribute to review meetings and change process ensuring effective material planning implementation takes place to accommodate the changes
Lead and coach the manufacturing teams to effectively resolve issues on the print floor using modern problem-solving techniques
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Worked in a FMCG environment or any exposure of fast pace manufacturing operation
Strong leadership presence
Good interpersonal, leadership and motivation skills
Possess proficient change management skills
Strong analytical, commercial and negotiation skills
Proven track record of negotiating and managing key supplier SLA’s/contracts
Proactive, 'can do' attitude
Ability to work as part of a cross functional team, with previous management experience

Education and Experience
University Degree or experience equivalent required
At least 5 years managing supply chain functions (experience in the printing industry would be advantageous)
CIPS qualified or working towards (or equivalent) / relevant degree
Experienced in lean manufacturing principles
Project management skills
At least 5 years’ experience in stock control, supply chain operations, international air/sea/ inbound/outbound shipping and UK domestic distribution
Strong managerial and operational skills.
Proven negotiation and procurement skills.
