Mechanical Design Engineer- Medical Devices
£35,000- £50,000 DOE + Benefits
Location: Edinburgh
Permanent Position

I'm seeking a mechanical design engineer to join an award winning product design and development business based in Edinburgh. The company work with an impressive portfolio of clients across the medical, pharmaceutical, consumer, electronics and industrial industries.

We are seeking an experienced and professional individual to join the team. You'll be taking part in a range of exciting projects with the opportunity to input your own powerful, creative and fresh ideas.

The role:

You will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise on the design & development of products. With an emphasis on NPD the role will see you involved in every stage of the development lifecycle encompassing conceptualisation, design, development, assembly, testing and manufacture through to delivery.

Experience and Background Required:

  • A high profile mechanical engineer with a good track record in the design and development of medical devices or consumer products
  • Proficient 3D CAD user, ideally Creo for the creation of 3D detailed designs and 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Use of Finite Element Analysis Software is desirable
  • Proven experience in engineering problem solving and detail design
  • Mechanism design expertise
  • Medical Device or Drug Delivery Development expertise
  • Experience in injected moulded design for high volume products
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 development process
  • 3D CAD software expertise
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles
  • Experience of FMEA analysis techniques
  • Proven materials knowledge and materials selection
  • A thorough understanding of modern DFA & DFM techniques
  • Understanding of electrical component packaging, EMC & PCB design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of the full product design life cycle
  • Proven ability to work in a team or as an individual with little guidance
  • Professional awareness and appreciation of client focus

Qualification Requirements

  • A degree/ HND/ HNC in a relevant discipline
