Operations Engineer - Ansible/Linux/Python

We are seeking an Operations Engineer - Ansible/Linux/Python with experience of the below requirements. The initial contract runs until the end of December 2018, with extension likely and you will be working with a leading Financial Services organisation, based in Buckinghamshire.

Role Summary:

The individual should have excellent customer service and has strong technical abilities across the IT operations stack (hardware, networking, middleware, database and applications). Our ideal candidate has a software development background with a passion for open source products and systems automation, and the initiative to identify areas for operational improvements.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational and pro-active support to the solution using best practices.
  • Implementation end to end of the product from development to Production.
  • Deliver quality and continuous delivery assurance.
  • Pipeline creation and maintenance.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work

Essential Skills

  • Deployment of applications to production, sandbox, test and dev environments using Jenkins.
  • Configure continues integration pipelines for deployment using Jenkins and GIT; Live Project CI/CD Administration: Jenkins.
  • Clearly define and document all issues using JIRA, Confluence.
  • Experience with Web Technologies: SOAP, REST, Web Services, WebApi, Apache Tomcat, XML, JSON.
  • Proven Operations discipline, knowledge of live patterns systems & best practices.
  • Continuous improvement of system and application monitoring and automation using Ansible, Python, Ruby and Bash scripts.
  • Ability to work in a pressured environment.
  • Test software functionality and participate in reproducing software issues as necessary.
  • Good technical and system knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and system administration.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services; experience with OpenShift is preferred.

Desirable Skills

  • BS/BA or equivalent practical experience in related discipline.
  • Experience with SQL (Postgres, MySQL, NuoDB) and NoSQL database management systems (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra).
  • Experience managing infrastructure in multi-tiered web architecture.
  • RESTful service language, RAML, Swagger, WADL, YAML.
  • Experience with IBM API connect.
