Agricultural and Compliance Officer

Biogen is the UK's leader in anaerobic digestion (AD) and one of the largest independent AD operators in the UK. Having recently expanded its food waste recycling network through acquisition, it has a combined network of thirteen AD plants and six composting sites located across England, Scotland and Wales that provide cost-effective, low carbon, food and organic waste management solutions. Working with supermarkets, the hospitality industry, food manufacturers and local authorities across the UK, the AD sites recycle over half a million tonnes of food waste each year and provide green electricity generation of 25MW.

Position: Agricultural and Compliance Officer

Location: Bedfordshire with national travel

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: max £25,000 per annum + Car or allowance + Bonus

Benefits: pension 3% employer & employee; holiday's 25 days pa, increasing to max 27 days

About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Officer to support the Director of Compliance in a variety of compliance activities within the company. The Compliance Officer will secure sales of digestate and compost and ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards. You will assist in ensuring compliance of the contractor's contract terms and source suitable land and storage facilities for digestate (fertiliser) and compost with farmers and land managers.

You will be responsible for day to day supervision of the spreading operation at Biogen plants, overseeing digestate and compost sampling and sample testing to ensure conformance to the procedures and schedules. Whilst providing support to the Commercial team as and when required, you will also conduct regular audits and provide support to the Compliance team to ensure PAS110 and PAS100 audits are successful.

About you:

The successful candidate will ideally have experience and knowledge of FACTS, have agricultural qualifications and experience and understanding of ISO/Quality/Environment and Health and Safety systems. Good organisational and planning skills are essential as is the ability to communicate well at all levels. You will be computer literate and have excellent interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate to hold a full driving licence, as the role includes regular travel to sites in the UK.
