The Foundations and Geotechnics team specialise in all aspects of foundations, geotechnics, tunnelling and structural engineering to support underground space which enables us to contribute to some of the largest and most demanding structures in the world. These projects range from rail infrastructure in London, Victoria Station Upgrade, Doha Metro, Northern Line Extension, London Heathrow Terminal 2B and high speed infrastructure amongst numerous others.

The Civil engineer will join an experienced team and work on a wide range of projects at various levels of responsibility and delivery.

You will be involved in structural and geotechnical analysis, works and project management. There is also potential for you to take significant responsibility within the teams, dependent on your experience to-date.

Core responsibilities will include:

* Structural analysis and design (from concept to detail) of substructures associated with large underground spaces such deep basements or metro boxes
* Ability to investigate and design geotechnical works
* You will be responsible for the evaluation and definition of geotechnical engineering requirements
* Design retaining wall systems
* Design major temporary works associated with underground structures
* Design to current Eurocodes
* Be fully conversant with soil/structure interaction issues associated with below-ground structures
* Undertake budgeting and cost control
* Manage design work for other team members
* Travel as necessary for project delivery

It is expected that you will bring sufficient Geotechnical, Civil or Structural Engineering experience to the existing team and be able to deliver projects under the support and guidance of our principal engineers and project managers.

Essential requirements:

* Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
* High level experience in Civil/Structural/Foundation design
* You must have proven experience in metro/ rail project management
* Knowledge of client liaison and building relationships
* Understand the dynamics of working with, and contributing to, a team
* Skilled in evaluation and definition of geotechnical engineering requirements
* Track record in major projects and interaction with major client delivery teams
* Be an effective communicator both written and spoken, with all levels of staff and clients
* Prepared to travel nationally and internationally as needed for any project
