We’re Screwfix. Perhaps you know us. Perhaps you don’t. Either way, we’d like to let you in on a secret. We’re growing. By putting our customers first, we’re providing quality products, at competitive prices and a convenient shopping experience. It’s a winning formula. With 570 stores around the UK, we’re also expanding into Europe. And, thanks to our multi-million-pound leading UK website (not only are we listed in the Internet retailing 2017 Top 500 report, we’re also in the IRUK elite category), we already house 30,000 online products and attract 2.5 million weekly web visits too. As a Front-End Developer, you’ll help us to go on to do even bigger and better things.

Let’s hammer out the detail

We’re proud of our website. We’ve come a long way. But with our continued plans for expansion, we need to make it work even harder for us. As part of the ecommerce design team, you’ll work with the Web Design Manager to maintain, create and develop stand-out content that will get our customers talking and buying. You’ll help provide a range of innovative digital solutions – from building landing pages, to automation, creating templates, responsive email development support and bringing creative design to life by putting your own spin on it. As someone who knows their stuff, you’ll share new and emerging technologies with the aim of delivering improved online experiences. You’ll also trouble-shoot any development issues and help implement and maintain Google analytics.

Your skills toolbox

Of course, you’ll need to be technically brilliant. You’ll need excellent HTML5, GIT and SASS/GRUNT experience within an agile environment. But we need more. You’ll also need to have worked with JQuery, JavaScript, Foundation, AMP, Magento and MovableInk / dotMailer. As for you, we need you to be flexible, forward-thinking and adaptable. You’ll also need to be willing to help non-technical staff understand what the technology you use is capable of, so together you’re creating content that doesn’t just look good, it works. In addition, you can back ideas with practical documentation (instructional and technical) for broader use, as well as keep up-to-date with what’s trending to ensure we’re streets ahead of the competition.

Screwfix – the nuts and bolts

We haven’t got where we are today without taking risks. We own what we do. We work hard, but we make sure we balance that with fun along the way. With 570 stores across the country, we’re constantly opening new ones and there’s no sign of us slowing down. Join us, and you’ll be part of a dynamic organisation that’s investing in its people and going places.

Rewards – we’ve nailed it

We mentioned you’ll need to work hard…. That’s why we make every effort to thank you for your efforts. A competitive salary, xx days’ holiday, an award-winning company pension scheme, life cover, childcare vouchers, 20% discount with Screwfix and B&Q, discounted healthcare and company share save schemes are all on offer. We’ll also help you be the best you can be, with excellent training and ongoing development at your disposal too.

As we want to attract the best, we’re willing to move mountains… or at least help you move. Our competitive relocation package is designed to make things easier for you. Equally, we’re keen to help our people achieve a healthy work / life balance, so for certain roles we’re open to discussing flexible working (naturally this works better for some roles than others, but if we can help, we will).

Our policy is to employ the best qualified people and provide equal opportunity for the advancement of employees including promotion and training and not to discriminate against any person because of gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, belief or disability.
