Software Engineer - Modern Tech Stack - Share Options
Software Engineer required to work on interesting projects, using modern technologies with a high calibre team in the heart of Manchester.
From day one you will become an integral part of close-knit team of high calibre software engineers who work on some of the most critical cloud-based applications across the entire company. As a full stack role, you will be given the chance to work with a whole host of interesting tech.
The product they offer is literally the lifeblood of the organisation so you won't be viewed as a 'nice to have', you will genuinely be essential to the success of the company.
Working in an agile environment, you'll be involved in daily stand-ups, working in two week sprints with the rest of the dev team and wider departments to ensure quality. Due to the size of the team and the approach they take, they are able to make changes quickly and don't want to lose that no matter how big they get.
A real Manchester success story, this organisation are working on some of the most innovative projects in the UK at the moment and have brought on board some real household names as customers. It really doesn't get much better than this in Manchester or indeed the UK if you are a Software Developer/Engineer.
The leadership team have an insatiable desire to have an inclusive, collaborative and open culture where everyone has an equal opportunity to have an impact. A good example of this would be a couple of recent promotions where two supposedly more junior members of the team were given more responsibility due to stellar performance.
They recently had a shift in tech stack across the front end due to one of the team suggesting they may be better served using React (previously Angular). The team sat down, talked it through and agreed that it would be a better tool for the job. You will be given the opportunity to suggest similar upgrades / enhancements to the stack.
As a flavour of the tech stack they have in place, you can expect to use some of the following:
** HTML5 / CSS3 / Redux / Bootstrap
** AWS - everything is hosted on AWS and they will help you become a certified AWS expert
** PostgreSQL / Redshift / DynamoDB / Hadoop / Apache
** Linux / Docker
You will be given the chance to work with all of those tools and much more as they continue to progress their offering and want you to obsessed with new tech, keeping abreast of the latest tools and technologies.
Package & Next Steps:
This organisation is still very much in start-up mode, as a result, they do not offer astronomical salaries. This is not the job for you if you are chasing pound signs. However, if you are up for a challenge, want your voice to be heard and are keen to help build something from the ground up - it could be perfect.
As a guide, they will be offering somewhere in the region of £30-40k, plus flexible benefits, which include share options, pension, state-of-the-art kit, generous holidays and training budget which you can use as you see fit.
In terms of next steps, they will do an initial telephone call followed by a short tech exercise before meeting the CTO and a couple of the team. We can organise these quickly so please do click on the link to apply and get in touch with Liam at Cathcart Associates for more information.
