PLEASE READ FULL SPEC BEFORE APPLYING ** Due to the nature of the roles, which are tackling complex issues and operating in a very tactical environment while strategic solutions are being developed, the ideal candidates should tick all three of the following criteria:

  • HSBC experience
  • Wholesale banking experience
  • IFRS9 experience

IFRS 9 is the new accounting standard dealing with financial instruments accounting. The IFRS 9 Programme, managed by Group Finance Change, will continue through 2018 to deliver further changes to HSBC IFRS 9 requirements post go live on 1 January 2018. The Business Finance IFRS9 Project within the Programme is managed by Business Finance & Business Finance Change Delivery (BFCD) teams and is accountable to the wider IFRS 9 programme governance. It has 2 sides to it, tactical and strategic, with the strategic side splitting into 2 key strategic workstreams with clear deliverables listed but not limited to those below:

Tactical MI & Commercial Impacts

  • Conduct the new Business Finance Review and Challenge of the Provision results to support the Global Banking CFO sign off
  • Ensure the delivery and stabilisation of the tactical MI solution for producing monthly internal MI and Quarterly Reporting commentary
  • Business Finance IFRS 9 SME for Stress Testing 2018
  • Support C&M control uplifts as directed by the programme and ensure new controls launched in 2017 are working effectively and complying with SOx
  • Provide SME knowledge and support in ROTE and RWA uplifts
  • Consolidating information on the commercial impacts of IFRS 9 and the corresponding business response, enabling communication to interested parties such as regulators, Audit Committee and the Board
  • Appropriately engage and communicate with business stakeholders on Business Finance IFRS 9 deliverables for the duration of the project
  • Complete transition of all IFRS 9 activities to BAU upon strategic MI successfully delivered
  • Provide continued SME knowledge & direction of Strategic MI solution design and implementation and testing

Strategic MI

  • Provide support for the Strategic systems changes required to enhance data feeds into MI Actuals to Business AnalyticsThis role is responsible for planning and execution of the Tactical MI & Commercial Impacts deliverables for GB. They will demonstrate excellent communication skills, experience working with Senior executives and the ability to manage competing priorities by assessing urgent versus important whilst leveraging relationships at a Global and Country level to drive delivery. The role holder will represent GB Business Finance in a number of Wholesale and Group IFRS 9 forums regarding the governance, design and delivery of the IFRS 9 Programme workstreams.
  • The role holder will report to the Head of Finance Global Banking. It will manage the alignment of approaches and communication with the 3 regional IFRS 9 Business Analyst and be a key point of contact for the Global Banking CFO & Head of Finance across all IFRS 9 related topics.
