These are the microscopic devices which write information onto, and read information from, the recording disc inside a computer’s hard drive. The manufacturing process integrates technologies such as photolithography, high vacuum deposition and etch, electroplating and CMP, using the most advanced equipment in the data storage industry. The application of such technologies also requires highly capable and trained engineers and scientists. Stepper / Scanner Lithography Process Engineer / Scientist (Ref: SPPE/181724 ) Working in a team of highly motivated process engineers, we have excellent opportunities for a candidate to work in an exciting Nano-fabrication environment using state of the art wafer fabrication technologies. Reporting to the Photolithography Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with Process Engineering and Research & Development to define and drive new lithography technologies into future data storage products. We are looking for a high calibre candidate with experience of lithography steppers or scanners, and detailed knowledge of optical lithography technology as it relates to wafer manufacturing. The key responsibilities of the role will involve: · Working on state-of-the-art exposure lithography tools including ASML & Nikon Scanners & Steppers. · Demonstrating a detailed understanding of exposure tool operating systems and equipment diagnostics · Inventing new or improving calibrations, tests and applications to optimise overlay performance. · Analysing and improving exposure tool overlay · Developing knowledge of SEM & overlay metrology tools. · Participating in cross functional teams for wafer yield improvement · Working with vendors on new tool qualification, exposure tool upgrades, and new process development · Developing strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities. · Training and certification of production operators and technicians Candidates must demonstrate a sound understanding of sub 50nm Photolithography, and detailed knowledge of exposure tools such as ASML & Nikon Scanners or Steppers. The successful candidate will undergo a training program that covers key aspects of wafer process technology, including vacuum technology, photolithography, electroplating, and various metrology techniques, as well as manufacturing systems and process control techniques. Upon completion of the training, the person will work within the Process Engineering team to deliver world-leading technology and process capability for HDD recording head manufacturing. We are seeking creative, self-motivated individuals who have demonstrated an in-depth understanding of photolithography, exposure systems, together with strong problem solving skills. Applicants must possess at least a 2.2 Honours degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline such as physics, optics, optoelectronics, microelectronics, mechanical or electrical engineering combined with at least 2 years relevant optical photolithography experience in an industrial or research setting. A Masters level qualification or PhD in a relevant field would be desirable.
