Accident Engineer

Job purpose
Responsible for controlling costs associated with all accident damage to our client vehicles and external customers vehicles when required.
To support the client and its customers with 3rd party damage claims to reduce risk and costs to our external customers.
To manage pro-forma invoice claims on behalf of our client and its external customers.
Offer technical support to the internal fleet and wider our client teams when required
To liaise and manage the damage claims giving authority for repairs where appropriate and challenge costs for the benefit of our client and its external customers.

Key accountabilities (generally between 7 to 10)
• Control the authority process using industry knowledge to manage direct costs
• Work closely with the vehicle sales team to adhere to the client write off avoidance scheme
• Manage the costs of repairs
• Manage and control the Pro-forma invoicing process
• Deliver technical support to the central team when required
• Use industry knowledge to manage costs of repair by suggesting alternative repair methods, in-line with current safe working practices
• Manage and control spend in relation to accident damage to our external customers vehicles
• Support the client in relation to 3rd party claims and challenge costs where appropriate
• Work closely with our solicitors and our accident management provider to control costs and look for opportunities for 3rd party capture
• Provide cover management for customer service manager.

Work towards and support savings opportunity’s
Save £70k of Pro-Forma invoicing and generate £700k savings for the group in recoveries.

Key knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications required
• ATA qualified accident engineer
• Experienced in the use of Audatex and Glasses
• Time served bodyshop experience
• Time served accident damage estimator
• Good standard of education (maths)
• Strong communication skills
• Be an excellent negotiator
• Be a decision maker
