The Role as their System Engineer
The Web Services Team are responsible for hosting, service management, building live services on the Amazon Cloud, providing services to insurance, financial services, aggregators such as MoneysuperMarket, Confuse.com, uSwitch, Co-Op, Tesco Bank, supporting 600+ servers, and over 100 websites. They are always looking for new ways of working, using innovative technologies, to build solutions. There is an emphasis on automation (Terraform) to help them in building, changing, and versioning infrastructure, Containerisation (Docker) ensuring consistency across multiple development and release cycles, standardising their environments, so this role gives a chance to build on, or learn fresh, modern software deployment techniques
As a Systems Engineer, you will help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot their rapidly expanding infrastructure. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical services and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. You will Install, configure (Puppet), test, deploy (AWS), monitor (Grafana, ELK Stack), and maintain Linux operating systems, application software and system management tools.

They will aid your development through relevant industry certifications, keeping you challenged and motivated. Requirements and Experience needed to become their System Engineer
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments.
- Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g. Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX)
- Experience with virtualization and containerisation (e.g., VMware, Docker)
- Experience with monitoring systems, ELK Stack
- Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef)
- Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
- Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP
