A technician position within the Process Engineering section contributing towards the engineering tasks relating to manufacturing and development of established and new processes.

Position is shift based, ensuring process engineering, in-line and product test support is provided across all manufacturing hours for troubleshooting and assistance, as well as to extend the hours in which engineering development tasks may be undertaken.


Process engineering representative for all processing areas during out of day shift hours .

Contribute towards engineering tasks associated with process development and optimisation.

Provide assistance to the section in both pro-active and reactive improvement activities.


Ensure engineering principles and procedures are adhered to by staff functioning within the fabrication and test areas.

Respond to out of control events and assist in disposition of such events.

On-shift containment, investigation, diagnosis & resolution of process and wafer test issues.

Liaises with shift supervisor & fellow technicians to ensure production priorities are understood and addressed with appropriate urgency.

Contribute towards training of Technical Processors and fellow technicians.

Monitor, update and present information regarding the status of production processes.

Must proactively identify and implement process improvements in order to increase efficiency, yield and reduce operating costs.

Provides feedback & communication to ensure continuity in addressing issues across 7-day/24-hour shift system.

Has an understanding of how variations in process conditions may affect product performance. Active role shall be played in yield improvement activities, working closely with device, yield and process unit engineers.

Proactive role in developing a positive safety and environmental culture to satisfy ISO 140001 requirements.

To work closely with other members of the Semiconductor Operations and Development Engineering departments to achieve fast introduction of new processes/products, yield stabilisation and continued yield improvement.

Close liaison with the Production section and Development Engineering department to ensure transferred processes meet operational status and yield targets in a time and cost effective manner.



Experience of a high volume semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Broad knowledge of manufacturing and engineering principles.

Strong analytical and problem solving ability. Appreciation of both practical and theoretical methodologies.

Understanding of statistical process control techniques

Demonstrate creative approach to job related specific tasks.

Knowledge of scientific experimentation techniques.

Understands the basic operating principles of semiconductor fabrication equipment in at least one discipline.

IT skills, experience with MS Office.

Pro-active and capable of working without direct supervision

Project team-working ability.

Good Communication skills.

Must have drive to achieve results.

Methodical, thorough problem-solving approach.

Minimum ONC or equivalent in related discipline (e.g. electronics, chemistry, physics, materials science)


Greater than 4 years experience in a semiconductor fabrication environment.

Broad knowledge of semiconductor processing techniques.

Exposure to medium to long-term projects.

Knowledge of statistical methods for historical data analysis.

Knowledge of scientific experimentation techniques.

Sound knowledge of solid state & electronic engineering theory.

Knowledge of GaAs pHEMT technology.

Prepared to be flexible in working hours to suit business needs, may need to work outside of normal hours.

Decisive, accurate, creative and forward thinking.

Inspires colleagues with confidence in technical ability.

HNC in related discipline (e.g. electronics, chemistry, physics, materials science)
