We're now looking for a commercial finance manager to further support our work. As a commercial finance manager at the Co-op, you'll be responsible for providing accurate and fact based modelling, analysis and reporting on business performance. Collaboratively with the business, we'll look to you to pull together a holistic story of financial information and analysis to help improve scenario, forecasting and budgeting models, as well as applying new techniques to support process. You'll be working closely with two assistant analysts, so you'll be using your knowledge and expertise to develop and shape them, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

What you'll do:
  • design and produce weekly and periodic reporting packs
  • provide insight and understanding of key performance drivers, enabling analysis which highlights opportunities and challenges thinking
  • develop and constantly improve the budget and forecast modelling to aid effective decision making
  • delivery of rolling forecast and outturn predictions of periodic, quarterly and year end results and performance
  • provide appropriate commentary and explanations with insightful summaries of the underlying performance
  • lead and develop two assistant analysts
  • drive a culture of continuous improvement

To get going quickly in this role, we'll look for you to have a professional accountancy qualification or to be 'qualified by experience'. With so many complex data sets to review and report on, you'll have great analytical skills and be able to manipulate data easily. How you present this information is also important. So you'll have loads of examples of how you've previously presented complex information in a precise and conclusive way. A big part of your role will be to continuous challenge and improve our financial analysis and modelling ensuring that changes made are effectively communicated throughout, so you'll need to be confident in doing so, and show us how you've previously done this.

We'd love to speak to you if:
  • you can bring budgeting and forecasting experience
  • you have strong technical, modelling and analysis skills
  • you've a good understanding of a complex food retail business or experience in FMCG
  • you're able to impact and influence, tell a story with numbers and engage others
  • you can demonstrate experience in providing insight and analysis to senior stakeholders
  • you have experience of people management (this is not essential but would be a benefit)
